Welcome to the La Gamba Field Station

The La Gamba Field Station is a research and teaching facility of the University of Vienna, situated at the edge of the Regenwald der Österreicher (Rainforest of the Austrians) in Costa Rica. Being located in one of the most species-rich lowland rainforests in Central America, it is an ideal location for field research, courses and seminars.

The field station plays a significant role in research into tropical rainforests, raises awareness of rainforest conservation and research, and provides an opportunity for students and anyone interested in the natural world to increase their knowledge of rainforests.Why not visit us?
